beginner knitting patterns
I tried this pattern 3 different times… watched YouTube videos and all. I don’t know if it’s me or that pattern but it’s not working for me! I’m moving on to a new pattern to knit an infinity scarf for my daughter. I will post it soon and share the link. In the meantime, if you want to see if it’s just me, go ahead and download the pattern below and leave a comment and let me know how it turned out for you. 😉
I know lots of people that start knitting months in advance for Christmas gifts but hey I’m not that girl. Now that the weather has turned colder though I’m looking for simple knitting projects that don’t take a lot of time so that I can knit several in time to put under the tree.
- cast on
- yarn over
- knit two together
- cast off
If you are not sure of any of the above remember YouTube is a great source for knitting tutorials.
Supplies you’ll need:
- medium weight yarn pattern suggests 1 skein Berroco Flicker
- size 13 needles
- darning needle to sew the ends together
I’ll be sure to post a picture of the one I’m making when it’s complete along with the time it took me to make it. Keep in mind I’m a beginner also, so I don’t knit very fast. 😉
This super fun long hat is one of the first things I made after learning to knit. It reminded me of the hat that Schwartz wore in the movie A Christmas Story. It was time consuming as I’m not fast but it was worth it and my daughter loves it in her school colors. If you are looking for a fun hat to create for an adult or a kid and you are new to knitting this could be for you.
I got the pattern from Craftsy.
TIP – The pattern calls for size 10 double pointed needles however I also bought size 10 circular needles which I used until I started to have to decrease I found it to go faster with more control the circulars especially if you are new to knitting..
